The Clinton County community has advocates on both sides of the aisle when it come to supporting or not the proposed data center project. For or against, KNS always welcomes your opinion on this or any other matter you see fit to speak out on. The following is a Letter to the Editor submitted by local resident, Jamie Hardesty.

Dear Commissioners,
I want to thank you Mr. Brewer for your critical analysis and voicing your concerns and views regarding the Data Center Project in the commissioners meetings and again on WILO. The only thing that I agree with your colleagues and the opposition is that we do need your prospective in these meetings with the Data Center representatives
The lack of transparency or planning about the Data Center Project has been disappointing to say the least.
The Area Plan meeting there was no real presentation of the 14 agreed commitments or details provided concerning their plans for the Data Center Project
Also, there has been others promoting this deal without presenting any details or documentation at these meetings to back it up claims of the electrical substation, talk of closed loop water, noise pollution control, light pollution control, environmental protections, actual job growth or financial investments to the community
Many residents have valid concerns about this project affecting their utility costs and property assessments or property taxes.
Other than that it seems like it was more of a personal introduction of the developer.
Also, another concern for me is the TIF Zones which as you know are zoned specifically so that the tax revenues collected remain in that specific TIF Zone so the tax revenue collected after said abatement and/or incentives expire there will be no monies used for schools, roads or tax breaks for residents etc. unless provisions are made for such in advance. It was also mentioned that the developer invited certain members to visit the NJ faculty that wasn’t even complete. Also reports of the developer requesting that town for a multi million dollar loan for equipment.
Most of us have multiple reasons for not wanting the data center and don’t believe the county is doomed or will ruin us from future developments.
So yes we all have our reasons. We need honest transparent fiscally responsible projects and we need all of our community elected leaders to actually do their due diligence.
Thank you, Mr. Brewer for doing your part please continue to vote NO on the Data Center Project.
I respectfully ask Mr. Weaver and Mr. Myers to vote No on this matter as well.
Sincerely
Jamie Hardesty
