Starting today, Healing Hope Recovery is offering a new community resource to help the unhoused and anyone in need with the launch of its Clinton County Blessing Box.
Located in the alley behind 254 North O’Neil Street in Frankfort, the Blessing Box is open nightly from dusk until dawn. Residents are encouraged to “take what you need, share what you can,” providing a round-the-clock option for those seeking food, clothing, or other essentials. Organizers stress that the Blessing Box is in the alley, not at the house, and ask visitors to respect neighbors by keeping noise down, not blocking the alley, and staying out of yards.
What You Can Donate
Healing Hope Recovery invites the public to donate clean, gently used, or new items in good condition. Acceptable donations include:
-
Food: Non-perishable and sealed.
-
Hygiene Items: Soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and feminine products (all new/sealed).
-
Baby Items: Diapers, wipes, blankets, and clothing.
-
Clothing & Essentials: Blankets, socks, coats, jackets, hats, gloves, shoes, and new underwear.
-
Bedding: Sleeping bags or small bedding.
What Not to Donate
To keep the Blessing Box safe and useful, organizers ask that people do not leave alcohol, tobacco, medications, expired food, unsafe or broken items, or donations outside the box.
Community Guidelines
To ensure the program continues to serve as many as possible, Healing Hope Recovery asks participants to:
-
Take only what is needed so others can benefit.
-
Keep the area clean and orderly.
-
Avoid blocking the alley or disturbing neighbors.
-
Do not approach the front of the property without prior arrangement.
-
Respect all property and neighbors at all times.
Healing Hope Recovery hopes the Blessing Box will become a hub of mutual aid and compassion.
“We are so thankful to everyone who helps make this possible,” said organizers. “Together, we can make a real difference for our neighbors.”
