Clinton County Council members met Tuesday morning for their regular meeting. During this meeting, Rodney Wann from the Health Department expressed concern in reaching the 63 children in the county that have tested positive for elevated levels of lead in their blood. This is often caused by old paint that comes off the wall and becomes dust, then stirred up into the air. Young children and pregnant women are at a higher risk of developing health concerns due to this problem.
Sheriff Kelly spoke on the mental health service challenge that exists in the community following the closure of Howard Community in the downtown area. Inmates, when released, need services and driving to Tipton or Kokomo is challenging. Other members of the community also experience frustration when seeking care. Sheriff Kelly is encouraging all members of Clinton County to contact Senator Brian Buchanan at 800-382-9467 or his website https://www.indianasenaterepublicans.com/contact-me-s7 to request a brick and mortar mental health service be placed back in the county.
