As the Christmas season approaches, Frankfort is getting ready for a familiar and festive tradition: the hand-painted holiday windows created by local artist and muralist Jess Jones. Known throughout the region through her work with Zomatta Art and Jess Jones Art, she is once again preparing to transform storefronts and now homes with her cheerful, colorful designs.
Jess has long been a creative force in Frankfort, with murals inspired by nature, local life, and Indiana’s unique character. Her artwork on the front of Pizza King, various local businesses, and multiple public spaces has helped shape the visual identity of the community. This winter, she plans to bring that same energy back to the windows of Frankfort during Christmas time.
After a year marked by construction projects and detours across the downtown district, Jess hopes her holiday artwork will help restore a sense of togetherness and give the city’s storefronts a warm, inviting glow. Business owners have already begun reaching out, asking if the annual Christmas window painting is returning.
In addition to downtown storefronts, Jess will be expanding her work to include businesses outside the square as well as residential homes, responding to growing interest from homeowners who want to bring holiday cheer to their own windows.
Jess is also exploring opportunities to involve local children in the process. She hopes to collaborate with an elementary school class to help design or assist with a window this season.
To help kick things off, she is offering a $50 discount to the first five businesses that schedule a holiday painting.
