The Lebanon Public Library hosts themed storytimes twice a week in the Children’s Department, located in the library’s lower level. The free group meets Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome to attend. Miss Jessie (Jessie Fleming), head of the Children’s Department at the Lebanon Public Library has been conducting the storytime activities since 2018.
The storytime hour includes an array of activities based on that week’s theme. Upcoming themes in September include, “Talk Like a Pirate”, “Goats”, and “Trees”. The twice weekly group combines song, dance, art, and the reading of several popular children’s books. The storytime culminates in a bubble machine dance party. Supplies for the arts and crafts portion are provided by the library.
This fall the Lebanon Library Children’s Department is also participating in the Read To Feed Challenge, sponsored by Heifer International. For every 2,000 minutes spent reading Heifer International will donate a flock of chicks to a family in need. The program is meant to help end hunger and poverty through reading.
