Jonathan Whitham Named Executive Director of IDHS

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has a new leader at the helm. Governor Mike Braun has appointed Jonathan Whitham as the agency’s Executive Director, recognizing his decade of service and deep experience within IDHS.

Whitham is no stranger to the department, having spent more than 10 years serving Hoosiers in a variety of roles, including General Counsel, Chief of Staff, and Assistant Director. Most recently, he has been guiding the agency as Executive Director, a role he will now officially continue.

State officials say Whitham’s commitment to the mission of IDHS and his passion for keeping Indiana safe were key reasons for his appointment.

“Jonathan Whitham has dedicated his career to helping Hoosiers,” Gov. Braun said. “I am confident he will continue to ensure Indiana remains a safe, secure, and resilient state.”

As Executive Director, Whitham will oversee the agency’s work in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and public safety coordination across the state.
